Pairing Wine to Your Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner

For white wine selections, consider a chardonnay or white Burgundy are recommended to pair with your standard Thanksgiving day turkey dinner. If you want more flavor and complexity choose the chardonnay. White burgundy will add a leaner flavor. For red wines check out a red burgundy or Pinot Noir. If you want a sparkling wine usually consumed on a hot summer night try a Vinho Verde. For more info go to: https://www.foodandwinepairing.org/wine_pairing_board.html If you want to reflect the cranberry sauce flavors, including tartness and fruitiness consider a Beaujolais! When serving a large collection of sides it can be hard to decide which flavor to highlight. but your wine should be full and fruity to cope with the competing foods on your plate. For a very strong impact consider a Rhone red – Chateauneuf-du-Pape If pumpkin soup or a creamy chowder is on the menu, try a smooth, dry, unoaked or lightly oaked Chardonnay or a Chenin Blanc. If you are simply trying to match wine flavors to the turkey itself provide a choice of red or white. Zinfandel, Merlot, Carmenere Shiraz or Pinot Noir for the reds and Chardonnay or Viognier for the Whites When serving pumpkin or apple pie for dessert, pair either one with southern French Muscat or Spanish Moscatel. Eating cold turkey leftovers look at lighter reds Pinot Noir or a good Beaujolais Villages.
