The downsides involve service accessibility and average repair costs. The tall tub models leave very little room for a technician to be able to work from underneath the front of the unit. Many repairs require that the dishwasher be removed from its installed position and pulled out in the open to access the various components. Servicing the unit through the very small front opening represent a potential hazard due to the sharp edges. Landers Appliance service technicians with large hands and arms can and do get cut reaching through the tiny space. The wash and drain motors are no longer repairable as many of the old 1/2 HP motors were. These new motors are replaced as an assembly therefore increasing the total repair price. You are receiving a better repair in the long run but ultimately you are paying for it!
I didn’t mention the new drawer type of dishwasher in this brief synopsis because WP doesn’t currently make one under their own brand name. Please call my office or send me an e-mail for my thoughts on our Landers Appliance experience with these products.
