Choosing Energy-Efficient Kitchen Appliances

Choosing Energy-Efficient Kitchen Appliances

Looking for new kitchen appliances? Landers Appliance can help you find the most energy-efficient ones.

Kitchen appliances are more foundational to the modern home than one may realize at first, providing a means of cooking and eating daily. They also tend to take up a significant portion of the energy bill yearly. Those looking to replace one or more of their appliances would prepare for the future well by upgrading to the most energy-efficient models available. How does one find such energy-efficient kitchen appliances? Here are a few pointers to help you out.

Energy Star

An Energy Star label is the Environmental Protection Agency’s mark of approval on the most energy-saving appliances. Look for this label on dishwashers, refrigerators, etc. to help narrow down your choices. With an Energy Star product, you can be sure it will use up less water and energy and perhaps make less noise.

Design

Along with the Energy Star label, the design is also fundamental to a product’s efficiency. Some basic physics and research can help you know how energy-saving and user-friendly an appliance may be.

Refrigerators

When choosing the most energy-efficient refrigerator, one can first do some online research to review the top-rated Energy Star products available. Doing so can help you get familiar with some of the best brands. Next, determine where you would like the freezer in the design. Top freezers are the most energy-saving, while bottom freezers are second place and side door freezers third. You can also look into the various features of today’s refrigerators geared toward efficiency. For example, LED lighting uses less energy than halogen bulbs, and automatic ice makers need significant power to function.

Dishwashers

Today’s dishwashers are more water and energy-saving than ever. Again, one will want to look for the Energy Star label as a first step. Next, look at its features. Most aim to use the least water possible while still achieving a sparkling clean. Some even allow one to use less detergent. Of course, how you use the dishwasher will ultimately get you the best results.

Stoves & Ovens

When it comes to gas and electric stoves, each has its pros and cons. However, gas stoves with a lower BTU will use less energy, and electric units with induction elements will also waste less heat. IBe aware, though, that induction cooking requires metal cookware only.
