The attorneys representing both sides have been firing sound bites across the media outlets, trying to garner support for their positions. One major manufacturer has vowed to rigorously defend against the lawsuits and labeled it as an attack on American manufacturing. In a statement Whirlpool said “The facts remain unchanged: the vast majority of class members have not been harmed and never will be.”. NYU law professor Samuel Issacharoff who represents Sears and Whirlpool consumers, called the court’s decision “a big win,” adding: “There is nothing un-American about manufacturers having to stand behind their products.” (Reuters 2/14/14)
