Unsecured Household Items Causing Increase Injury and Death

Parents! Make sure you are firmly securing furniture, appliances, televisions, etc. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that injuries AND deaths are on the rise because homeowners are not taking simple precautions to insure household products can’t tip over. Small children are the ones most often injured (59%). Falling televisions have the highest death rate of all reported accidents, most are from being struck in the head. All free standing ranges have been supplied with something called an Anti-Tip Bracket for the last 10+ years. These brackets are used to secure the range to the floor and wall so that if the oven door is open and you accidently trip and land on the open door, the range can’t tip over on you, causing severe burns and other related injuries.
