Be careful when making repairs to your own appliances The attached picture is of a washing machine lid switch replacement where someone had used a non-original switch. Whoever made this repair tried to make a generic switch fit in place of the manufacturers original design. In order to wire the incorrect switch in place someone choose to use a wire nut without applying any tape or sealant insuring that the wire nut would stay in place. As a result the wire nut came loose, fell off, causing the bare wire to be exposed. This created a very dangerous, potentially hazardous situation. This is a clear example of why we always opt to use the manufacturers original replacement parts whenever possible.
