5 Range Features for Holiday Feasting

Make your holiday cooking as smooth as possible with these top range features!

Christmas is just a couple of days away, and everyone knows it’s time for some serious holiday cooking. This holiday season is also a great time to buy a new range if you are in the market, as you’ll find more sales and markdowns just in time for the busiest shopping season of the year. As you shop for your new range, you’ll want to make sure it carries the features you’ll need to produce your largest feast. Below are five range features to have for your holiday preparations.

Convection

Typically, an older range will have an oven in which only baking is possible. Now, models that have both convection and baking features have become more common and more affordable. Convection cooking encourages even cooking, crisping, and browning and can save you time in the cooking process as well.

Induction

Induction cooking is less common than gas or electric, but the public is becoming more and more aware of its apparent advantages. Induction cooking works by conducting heat into the pot or pan through electromagnetism, which means your cookware will need to have magnetic bases. Induction ranges heat up fast, maintain low heat well for simmering, and maintain a relatively cool surface.

Double Oven

If you typically have a large group of people over for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other holidays, more appliances will come in handy to efficiently put all the dishes on the table at once. A double oven is especially useful; you can find ovens of the same size, with a smaller one on top and a larger below it, and vice versa. If your double oven will sit close to the floor, be aware that you may need to bend down and hoist up large dishes more than usual.

Warming Drawer

If you’ve cooked numerous side dishes already but want to serve them all together with the main meal, you’ll need to have some way to keep them warm in the meantime. A warming drawer can contain multiple dishes for your convenience; it’s a great and practical appliance to add to any chef’s kitchen.

High Power Burners

It’s always nice to be able to prepare meals faster. If you need to bring soups, water, etc., to a boil, high power burners are a feature you should not pass up. Most ranges have at least one high power burner, but some have two or three.
