Power Strips Alert

Some power strips (the one pictured is only being used to show what a power strip looks like) have been found to break the neutral, or ground side of the line instead of the hot side. The net effect is a hot wire looking for any unsuspecting path it can find to ground!!! So voltage is really present but doesn’t have a path to ground, so it appears harmless. If you happen to be working on an appliance and have to replace an electrical component, exposing the electrical connections can also expose you to a very unpleasant electric shock, as YOUR BODY becomes a ground path for the voltage.
Whenever working on any appliance or anything electrical for that matter, it is always wise to simply unplug the appliance from its power source. This eliminates the possibility of any circumstance as I’ve described.
