It can be hard to imagine life without a stovetop. Even if you can, you may quickly realize that it is a greater part of your life than you think. The stovetop is the surface containing the burners and knobs, the surface on which you place your pots and pans. On a cooktop, the knobs are on the counter, while on a rangetop, they are on the front. In this article, a stovetop refers to both of these versions as well as the stovetop on a regular range. Rust and Other Damage
One should never ignore any damage to a stovetop, no matter whether it is electric or gas. One common type of damage is rust. This type of corrosion is irreversible and warrants a replacement of that burner. Be careful not to mistake dirt for rust, however; clean the burners thoroughly first so you can better assess the situation. Keeping the burners and clean will allow the appliance to work most efficiently and prevent wear and tear. Other types of stovetop damage include scratched glass surfaces, cracked surfaces or burners, bubbles, and blisters. It’s best to call a stovetop repair professional to handle these issues.
Too Hot or Too Cold
If no damage is present on the surface itself, you might need to call for stovetop repair if the internal workings are faulty. Is the surface heating up far too much or far too little? Are you unable to adjust the temperature with the knobs as you should? You might not have lost your stove for good, however; a repairman can assess and address the issue accurately, which can save you the huge cost of replacing the appliance entirely. It’s especially worth it to call for repair if your stovetop is relatively new, but if it is around 20 years old, you might want to start looking for a new, more efficient model.
Indicator Light Not Working
