Washing dishes is one of the most fundamental chores in a household. Many of us imagine that dishwashers only come in one size and form; however, there are actually various styles from which to choose. Which one might be best for you?
Built-In Dishwashers
Built-in dishwashers are the traditional kind that you might imagine. They are built into the cabinetry and give a kitchen a streamlined look. They do come in different sizes, so one can choose a slimmer version to fit in a smaller space. While they keep the countertops clear, they do take up a significant chunk of cabinet space, and the control panel is hidden from view. At the same time, since they are surrounded by cabinets, they may be quieter machines. However, if you want to move and take your appliance with you, you’ll have to leave that dishwasher behind.
Countertop Dishwashers
Meanwhile, if you have a particularly small kitchen, a countertop dishwasher can save you from many hours of scrubbing your mugs by hand. About the size of a large microwave, they can sit on your countertop and plug into the kitchen sink’s faucet. This appliance can fit the dishload of about four people, so they could work for a small family. A portable and compact option, it can work great for people living in compact spaces or those with a mobile lifestyle.
Drawer Dishwashers
Like a double oven, there are also drawer dishwashers. These machines also sit in the same row with the cabinetry. Each drawer works independently, so you can wash two different loads on two different wash settings at the same time. One perk of this setup is that you won’t have to bend down as much when using the top drawer.
Portable Dishwashers
Portable dishwashers are larger-scale than a countertop model, but work just as well and move just as easily. They also hook up to the kitchen sink for water and are a fantastic option if you live in a rental, since not all rental units come with a dishwashing machine. Another plus: they provide extra counter space.
